ell, that's it. My little brother is married. For those of you who are not a big brother, it's a bit like seeing your little league team win the championship. You remember the beginning of the season. All of the hard work, the strikeouts, the home runs that helped get them there. You watch as all 15 of the team members hoist the trophy over their heads and you pray that they will remember this feeling for the rest of their lives. For those of you that don't coach little league it's a bit like having your best friend win the Nobel Prize for Theoretical Mathematics. And you can remember all of the times that he divided by zero. You remember when he proved that you can construct a trisected angle. You see him up on the stage and you think, "This guy can't even match his socks... I sure hope that he doesn't trip."
Ian didn’t trip. It was a wonderful wedding. Ian and Kelly rode off into the sunset early the next morning on their way to a tropical paradise. After they left, we had an opportunity to spend time with both Julie's parents and my parents. It seems like we've been moving further away from home every few years, so it is especially nice when we have a chance to spend time with family. We even had Christmas in Dallas. Of course, there was no snow, and it wasn't Christmas, but Madelyn didn't know the difference.
We hadn’t been to Dallas before so we spent much of the week exploring the area. We spoke English, went to the zoo, and basked in the sun (tropical in comparison to Germany)! What more could we hope for from a vacation. There were even several days that didn’t require coats!
As many of you know, President Kennedy was shot in Dallas. We toured the sixth floor and walked the grassy knoll. I hadn’t realized it, but Phillip Johnson was the designer of Kennedy’s cenotaph there. It needs restoration, but it was interesting. While we were there I gathered proof that it was a conspiracy. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to reveal the information until the year 2050, but I can tell you that it has something to do with a really really pristine bullet.
